PP Assistant, the team behind the iOS 8.1.x jailbreak tool for Mac, has released a post reporting on the participation of Pangu Team in the Black Hat USA 2015 that we talked yesterday. Despite of the reckless criticism from Stefan Esser (a.k.a. @i0n1c), PP, in the 2nd to 3rd paragraphs of this particular post, praised the achievement made to iOS 7 and 8 jailbreaks which made them be nominated to the security award in Black Hat 2014, as well as their progress made on iOS 8.3 jailbreak which said to be demonstrated in MOSEC earlier this month.
More interestingly, despite the fact that Pangu team has dismissed the rumor on ETA of iOS 8.3 jailbreak, they speculated the release date in the last paragraph and especially the last sentence highlighted in red in their original article.
After iOS 8.1.2 jailbreak, Apple took further steps to kill the jailbreak. This made hundred the iOS 8 jailbreak to move forward. However, with the successful demo by the Pangu Team on iOS 8.3 jailbreak, which is meaning that this firmware has been “conquered”. Although the Pangu Team did not clearly indicate when they will release the tool, from what can be seen at this moment, Apple is likely releasing the final build of iOS 8.4 on 30th June. Hence, the untethered jailbreak for iOS 8.3 wil probably be released in July.
On another hand, TaiG and another team called Keen Team seems to be more interested in looking to put effort in jailbreaking iOS 9. So what’s your take on this? Are you expecting a jailbreak for iOS 8.3 or 8.4? Or you will stay with the latest possible version of iOS without a jailbreak. Let me know in the comments.
